So Much To Do...So Little Time....

Been a month I've not posted anything... guilty as charged! I have always thought I have a sprained neck sleeping or waking on the wrong side of the bed 3 months ago, then the pain got so unbearable that I had it checked out with Mr. Doc. just to see if there's anything serious going on, you know... it's the neck! The pain just stretches all the way to my shoulder blades and to my arms...Now, I'm convinced this is more than a stretched muscle or twisted vein or things like that. Went to the doctor and she said probably a muscle strain, gave me painkillers to subdue the pain. Nope, didn't work! Heard from a friend that I should try a Chiropractic... Heard of them, but didn't think it'll do the job. I'm a result-person, and I know without feeling an instant relief to my back sessions after sessions of therapy would probably stunt my trust in ever going back there again. However, the pain too unbearable that I can't sit comfortably or basically do anything without feeling the slightest pain, so I decided to give it a try.

Got x-rayed on the neck and spine... and the result freaked me out! My neck bone isn't positioned in a normal position and to make it worse, it is shaped exactly the opposite of what a normal neck bone should be! The doctor said it's typical of a person who's had whiplash! I don't remember ever in a car accident or close to that, so how can that be??? Geez! What did I get myself into, seeing him and he telling me my neck is not right! Been in about 4-5 sessions now (not that skeptical now, felt the results), feeling much better though some says are still a pain... will keep the faith and not miss any appointments, like I said its a healing process, it takes time... just got to be patient!

With the coming holiday and festive season, my manufacturer is busy all the way till this week! Went up to see them on Monday to hurry them up a tingle and to give them some more designs for the children's apparel line. So as told by them, I should be able to see my design prototype for the ladies' and tots' apparel by the 15th this month... can't wait!

Came up with a new name for the lil tots collection... presenting .....

Why a piggy for a logo? Just thought its cute and I like it....ok, children are adorable and cute right? Well, they are...so does a piggy (I mean think 'Babe'...), and they're intelligent, smart and always up to a little mischief! So I thought it's a perfect depiction in this context.

These are some of the designs that was submitted to the girls to sew:

Anna Jumper - This One's For The babe!

I'm starting to design the next line for the tots. This is a pattern in progress for a little girls dress. A simple, no fuss A-line dress for the little one. It has a tie-on shoulder ribbon for fastening. This dress is for ages 6mths to 7T and will be in production soon! Watch out for it in www.ilovetreasures.com!

And this is the finished prototype:

It's made of 100% cotton with very avant garde stripey print! It doubles as a jumper as well for wear in the colder region. Team it with a cozy black turtle neck and black warm tights, and oh, a cute little mary janes of course! Voila! You have chic and preppy tot in the winter!

I'm Going A Little Dotty!

I cannot resist polka dots! They are so fun and yet can be a sophisticated look. I love the red polka dot dress here...the design is classic and elegant (think 40s era) with a dash of dotty fun! Simly love it! The shoes are tres chic et flirty! I think it makes you think soda-pop fun in the 50s!

It's A Girl!

Just wanted to share a very happy moment...I'm going to be a proud auntie to a niece, once again! Yep, my sister just found out the other day that she's pregnant with a baby girl... aww.....so sweet! I'm already designing the little one's christening gown... I know it's still early days but hey, why not?

Now, the good thing about it is I am so much more inspired to design our baby/toddler line! Girl outfits are such fun to design and create because the possibilities are virtually endless. Bows, ribbons, sweet-coloured motif fabric, buttons, yes, buttons! I have started making them on my own now. They are fabric covered buttons! They are so addictive to make! Basically I use leftover materials from making clothes and use them to make the buttons so that it will match the main outfit... I think it will be nice to have a matching button for the tots!

Just had To Do It!

My favourite dress at the moment is this one I sew without a pattern! Just took my bust and hip measurements....when it was finished, I decided it would look fun with a ruffled hem... so I added them on and voila!
It's made with very light cotton... so it's airy and comfy in this very hot weather at the moment. The chest and hip are shirred while the gathered hem is sewn on top of the main dress so that the ruffled edge shows for decorative purposes.

Wristlets...Bags...Purse...

I got this cute wristlet pattern from http://www.sospoiled.net/ and just decided to sew it. I scaled the pattern smaller because I want it to be a coin purse instead. Here it is....

Then I got started with this wallet with attached wristlet too! I made this pattern and I'm happy with it....

I found this material in one of my pile of fabrics... thought it would make a nice tote... a shopping bag for when I go to the market!

This is the finished bag.... and added 3 panel pockets for smaller stuff like my lipstick, keys etc...

A Matter of Time

I'm just going through stuff in my sewing room and trying to re-organize them... too many stuff! But I need them all to create and satisfy my sewing obsession... what is a girl to do? Yep, keep them all i say...

Because I'm in transition between homes ( will be moving to more permanent residence in about 9 months), I don't really want to buy furniture as yet, because it may not fit the dimension of my new sewing room later.... so I'm keeping it simple and basic for now...but that also means not enough storage space for my sewing and crafting nick nacks! So frustrating..... anyway.....

I've bought this lamp gorgeous... found it in Ace hardware for a cool Rp 2.100.000 (that's about SGD 350.00). Thought it was a good buy. I love it! This is one of the items that I'm slowly trying to accumulate for the new house... I'm sure it'll fit somewhere...

I'm now trying to come out with designs for my new children's clothing line for http://www.ilovetreasures.com/. (which by the way is still under construction! Andy.... where are you????) I think i'm doing alright, although I get side-tracked a lot in the process because I have so many ideas for the design that I keep going back to the drawing boarding, adding this and that... blah blah blah. right, got to keep focused now girl....

So, today I'm going fabric hunting again for the this line...I'm sure it'll be fun not to mention expensive! I choose the most suitable cotton material for children's clothes cause it has to be comfy to wear and the fibre should be durable for many washes etc.

I'm going to check out the linens today as well, those suitable for babes...

Treasure Trove!

I have always wanted to sew one of these cutesy apparels for our little people! So here goes... the first piece.... I'm happy! The idea of Treasures Tots is simplicity with a dose of chi"ness" for tots.

Sourcing materials is so much fun at the moment, so many to choose from! I'm always happiest looking at fabrics to buy! The array of options drives me mad 'coz I have to bear costs in mind... yep...what the heck! I always buy them anyway and the thought of endless possibilities of what I can do with them is keeping me awake all night! Such bliss, I say....

This is a handmade Baby Love top and skirt is made with 100% cotton with a splash of polka dots for fun!

SGD 45.00 (a set)

Sizes available from 1-3T (limited pieces)

(as fabric pattern is limited, i may use different combinations of fabrics.)

Another one that I just came out with... I call this Pink Funk Baby! Again, fabric combination may vary due to limited fabric stock......made with 100%cotton...

This is good....... yum!

See, after hiding in my sewing room for too long, I decided I need a break.... what better to go to Ubud, Bali to go check out the most raved about Ibu Oka's Babi Guling! Hey, this roadside stall has been there for almost 20 years now! They're located between Ubud's central banjar and Jl. Suweta. It's roasted pig, yep it's on the spit man, the real deal! Check out the special portion for Rp 25,000! Served up hot from the family's kitchen around the corner, you get succulent roast meat, a good crnchy piece of the crackling, blood sausages and urap (vegetables made Balinese style) and of course rice and some chili on the side if you want it spicy!

The stall is lined up with people from all over, tourists as well as locals abound, queing the moment the stall opens at 11am. The queue is unbeliable when I went there... it stretches to the road junction! So be early for this delicacy! I'm tucking in mine now.....bliss!
